Chadstone has an unusually mixed set of homes. At the 2021 Census just over half were separate houses, about a quarter were townhouses or semi-detached, and nearly one in five were flats or apartments. The suburb is about 14 km south-east of the CBD in the City of Monash, between Warrigal Road and Huntingdale Road, with the Glen Waverley line to the north, Scotchmans Creek to the south and the Monash Freeway running through it. It grew after the Second World War: by the mid-1950s houses were going up in the Jordanville Housing Commission areas, and many were prefabricated concrete houses made on what is now the Holmesglen Institute site. Most were small, with two or three bedrooms on large blocks.

The shopping centre is in Malvern East

Chadstone Shopping Centre isn’t in the suburb of Chadstone. It’s at 1341 Dandenong Road, Malvern East 3145. Near the centre, west of Warrigal Road, addresses are Malvern East 3145 in the City of Stonnington; east of it, they’re Chadstone 3148 in the City of Monash. Bins and hard waste follow the council. For the quote, just send us both full addresses.

Townhouses, apartments and main roads

For a townhouse, put its number in the full address, and we check access and truck parking online. In an apartment, ask your building about the lift and loading area. Parts of Warrigal, Waverley and Huntingdale roads became tow-away zones at signed times in December 2020, so if you’re on one of them, we check online where the truck can stand before we quote.

Hard waste and bins in Monash

Monash runs one free hard waste collection a year; in 2026 it ran from 13 July to 4 September. Moving at another time? You can book a paid extra collection for a week that suits you. Apartments and multi-unit homes may not be eligible, so check with your building manager or body corporate first. If you move into an existing Monash home with no bins, request replacements, and the council aims to deliver them within two business days. A newly built home needs to contact the council to arrange bins.
